Hey there, it’s adventure time. I’m biking from Zagreb to Sarajevo and further on to Macedonia, Skihut Gorica in Mavrovi Anovi to be precise. This year I’ll travel to only a few locations in the Balkans, because I’d like to spend more time in one place. Visit friends, pick up rock climbing and write. But I also want to learn about organic farming and fishing, do volunteer work and learn to speak the language like I did in Zagreb. As long as the weather allows I’ll use my bike as transport. I sort have a route, but I have no idea what I’m capable off. Guess I’ll find out along the way.
At the end of the month I’d like to look back on what I’ve done, on how I felt and what was on my mind. While scrolling through the photos, I immediately got a smile on my face. It was a great March. Thought I didn’t do much, but surely it’s enough for a blog post. Which actually means that I took enough photos to fill a blog post. So, here’s March (and a little bit of April), a photo journal about my life in Zagreb.Continue Reading "Looking back on March: Life in Zagreb"
Dobro došli. Welcome.
Doći, argh a ći-verb. Došla sam?
Išla, mogla, željela, mislila, gledala – the lala’s and sams dance around the class room. My head is spinning. All verbs I know have changed. Meet the Croatian language. It takes a while for me to realize we’re gonna do the past tense. Excitement, let’s do this.Continue Reading "Back to School"
At the end of the month I like to look back on where I’ve been and what I’ve done. On how I felt and what was on my mind. I could have posted these photos on Instagram, but I didn’t. Now they’re in February’s photo diary where I leave snowy Sarajevo for The Netherlands. Usually February is a bit of a difficult month, it’s not green yet, it’s still cold and the sunrise I terribly late. This year was different though. No, not the sunrise, no. But it was warm and sunny. There were blue skies, nature started to wake up. I even saw little lambs. This crazy early spring arrived almost at the same time as I did. Lucky me!Continue Reading "Looking back on February: Crazy early spring & a microadventure"
When I open my eyes it’s dark, but I know we arrived in Zagreb. Hello Zagreb! The bus waits for a traffic light, when I look to the right I see McDonald’s and the casino. My eyes search for the church, the church on the opposite side of the building I live. Found it. It’s not the prettiest neighborhood in Zagreb, but I’m excited to be back. Even though I only live and lived here for a few months, it feels like “my” neighborhood. And even though I don’t have my own house or apartment, it feels like coming home.
At the end of the month I’d like to look back on what I did, where I’ve been and how I felt. I usually use my Instagram feed to do so, but this month I hardly posted any photos. Why? Well first of all, I didn’t feel like it. Didn’t feel like sharing. Secondly, I’ve been busy with the Croatian language course (so much fun!) and creating tours on Outdooractive. Yes I’ve been active on Outdooractive, but I was pretty lazy when it comes to hiking or any other adventure. But the actual reason I didn’t post photos (or write blog posts or make video’s) is that I felt a little lost.Continue Reading "Looking back on April: Lost"
Unbelievable, I’m already more than one month in Zagreb. At the end of the month I’d like to look back on what I did, where I’ve been and how I felt. Although my Instagram feed gives a pretty good impression, I’d like to add some video’s and other photos as well. This month there’s even a podcast, yay!Continue Reading "Looking back on March: One month in Zagreb"
At the end of the month I’d like to look back on what I did, where I’ve been and how I felt. My Instagram feed gives a pretty good impression, so I decided to make a photo essay each month. In February I gave a little talk about my hiking trip from Amsterdam to Sarajevo, I hiked and hiked and hiked and I moved back to Zagreb. Curious what it looks like? Well here’s my “Looking back on February” photo-essay. Enjoy.Continue Reading "Looking back on February: From Amsterdam to Zagreb into a White World"
Standing still. Looking back. At the end of the month I like to look back on what I’ve done and where I’ve been. On how I felt and what was on my mind. It turned out that my Instagram pictures actually give a pretty good impression. So, I decided to put them together in a blog post. December has been a busy month. Not because of the holidays, but because I went back to The Netherlands to empty my apartment. I got rid of almost all my stuff. Oeff. Unfortunately I didn’t post much on Instagram. Therefore, I’ll add some non-Instagram-photos in this overview to give you an idea what I have been up to. Ok, here I go, looking back on December 2017.Continue Reading "Looking back on December: From Zagreb to Amsterdam into a New Year"
